Jon Eikemo



The popular Norwegian actor Jon Eikemo received the grand honorary prize of the Arts Council Norway for 2007. The prize amounts to 500 000 NOK (approx. 62 000 EURO) and a bronze sculpture.
At the ceremony, famous Norwegian musicians like Alfred Jansson and Åge Aleksandersen contributed along with poetry rectial by actress Monna Tandberg.

Tragedy or comedy, children's theatre or modernistic performative art, the world calssics or Norwegian popular comedy, Jon Eikemo is one who made the theatre a matter of interest to ordinary people. Because no task has been too big or too small, Eikemo has succeeded in bringing his quality art to broad audience all over the country. He demonstrates that is is possible to use your own language on stage, states the Art Council. Eikemo is also widely known among Norwegians for his work with the poetry of Jakob Sande.
